Van Gogh spent hours in the Louvre Museum, studying paintings. The Louvre contained art from every era in history. There was so much to discover. Paris opened his eyes to the beauty of the everyday world. He didn't paint the poor and the hungry anymore. He painted flowers, street scenes, and landscapes. He also painted everyday objects like food, bottles and vases.

The Impressionists'
work changed Vincent's ideas about painting and he was changing and
growing every day. Inspired by different techniques of Seurat and
Pisarro, he tried to paint in their styles, but soon discovered that
he preferred to paint from his heart. He experimented with
brushstrokes and
combinations of colours and played with light and shadow. “I pick
the colours to express my feelings,” he explained. Slowly but
surely, he was breaking free and becoming an artist with his own
style.
